Hair loss: find the cause, then the options.
Most hair loss in men is hereditary, but not all of it is. Our planned approach is a proper evaluation first, then options chosen for the cause and explained honestly.

What this care addresses
Hair thinning is common and worth taking seriously, both for how it feels and for what it can signal. Men usually notice a receding hairline, thinning at the crown, or more shedding than before.
Possible causes
The most common cause in men is pattern hair loss, which is hereditary and hormone-related. Other causes can look similar:
- Thyroid conditions and other medical problems
- Low iron or other nutritional gaps
- Significant stress, illness or rapid weight loss
- Some medications
- Scalp conditions and autoimmune conditions
Because the causes differ, so do the options. Finding the cause comes first.
How assessment works
We plan to begin with your history, your family's history and an examination of the hair and scalp. Blood tests are used where they could explain the change, and a clinician may refer you to a dermatologist when the picture is unusual.

Options
Depending on the cause, options range from topical and oral medicines to procedures. We will list the specific options we offer once they are confirmed. Your clinician will explain how each works, what to realistically expect, and the risks.
Potential benefits, and their limits
Treatment can slow loss and, for some men, improve density. Results vary, take months to judge, and are not guaranteed. For many treatments, stopping means the benefit fades.
Risks and what to know
Every option has risks. Some oral medicines can cause side effects, including changes in sexual function, and your clinician will go through them before you decide. Procedures carry their own risks and costs.
Follow-up
Hair responds slowly, so follow-up is planned over months: checking progress, side effects and whether to change course. We will publish our approach once it is confirmed.
When to talk with a clinician
Talk with a clinician if hair loss is sudden, patchy, or comes with scalp pain, itching, rash, or other symptoms such as fatigue or weight change. Earlier evaluation gives you more options and can find causes that are not hereditary.

Is hair loss always genetic?
Pattern hair loss is the most common cause, but thyroid problems, nutrition, stress, medications and scalp conditions can also play a part, which is why evaluation matters.
